Interim Pastor | Music Director | Accompanist | Secretary | Child Care | Youth Intern Bob Molby - Interim Senior Pastor![]() The Executive Board is pleased to announce Rev. Bob Molby as the Interim Senior Pastor of Second Baptist Church. Rev. Molby is a Kansas native who graduated from Sterling College and received Bachelor and Master of Divinity Degrees from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City. He held pastorates in several churches in Iowa and Kansas. In addition, he served as Director of Camps and Conferences for American Baptist Churches of Nebraska. Since his retirement, he has served as interim pastor in five different churches in the area. He comes highly recommended by our State executive ministers as well as from church members who have worked with him.
Bob and his wife, Fayetta, have been married for 57 years and are the parents of one son (deceased) and three married daughters. They enjoy spending time with their six grandchildren, genealogy and RV camping. Bob indicates that his hobbies include a little golf (emphasis on little), rebuilding a 1967 Honda 305 Dream motorcycle and reading.
Bob is scheduled to be at the church on Sundays and on Tuesday thru Thursday of each week - and at other times as needed. He and Fayetta plan, at least initially, to commute from their home in Elkhorn, NE.
Michael Kitt was born in Wauneta, Nebraska as the youngest of five boys. He graduated from Kearney State College with a degree in Vocal and Instrumental Music Education. He came to Lincoln in 1995 and became the Music Director at Second Baptist Church the following year. He has several nieces and nephews and enjoys gardening and crafts in his spare time. Michael also directs a choir at Eastmont Towers Independent Living Center, where he helps the elderly residents continue to experience a love of music.
Deb Bowman was born and raised in Nebraska as a member of Second Baptist Church. She began taking private piano lessons when she was 8 years old, and took organ lessons from the church's prior organist, Treana Clement. Deb works as a controller in her family's business, REAMS Sprinkler Supply, and has been married to Chris for 28 years. Chris and Deb share a son and two daughters, as well as a grandchild. Luann Gorgen - Secretary![]() Luann Gorgen came to Second Baptist church in January 2006, after working 35 years in the banking industry. Raised in O’Neill, Nebraska, Luann moved to Lincoln 4 years ago with her husband, Dean, who is an Appraiser for Saline County. Their 40 year union has produced 2 sons, now married with families of their own, and 4 grandchildren. Luann’s favorite part of the job at Second Baptist is working with many interesting people and running the bulletin. In her spare time, Luann enjoys reading and knitting. Anita Ahrens - Child Care Worker![]() Anita Ahrens took over as our Child Care Worker in March of 2007. She is a graduate of Union College, earning her degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development in 1997. Anita also works as a substitute teacher for Lincoln Public Schools, where she is hoping to obtain a permanent position. In her spare time, Anita enjoys crocheting, and has turned that hobby into a business - where her current most popular selling item is teddy bears. Anita has lived in Lincon for 15 years, and has been married to husband Bob for 11 years. They share 2 elementary school age sons, and attend College View Seventh Day Adventist Church on Saturdays, leaving her free to serve our church on Sunday mornings. Kayla Houck - Youth Ministry InternKayla comes from the small town of Bayard in western NE. Her high school activities included choir, swing choir, speech, FFA, FCCLA, golf, cheerleading, Spanish club, National Honor Society, High Honor Roll, One-Acts, and RAT PAC (a drug free leadership group) as well as service for Junior Work Day, FFA Work Day, Vacation Bible School, and “Beautify Bayard”. As a student at Nebraska Wesleyan University, Kayla belongs to the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and her college choir. Her major is Psychology, and she has an interest in Forensic Science. She participated in “Spokes for Folks”, “Teeter Totter Marathon”, and "Lend a Hand to Lincoln". Kayla enjoys working with youth and has a lot to offer as a young adult who is able to form a connection with our high school and middle high youth and relate to them as a peer leader. She has joined our SBC Choir, and enjoys the opportunity to meet new people. |
